Sheep Footcare

This one day course will allow trainees to gain confidence in the care of sheep. Recognize the symptoms of specific conditions select best treatments and administer them. The course will also look at how to administer treatments to sheep including worming, injecting and treatment of foot conditions. Choosing the appropriate medication, and the method of its administration. Storage and recording of veterinary medicines will also be covered.

The course will cover the following:

  • Identify symptoms of illness in sheep, and select the best method of treatment
  • Selection of treatment equipment.
  • Storage and recording of Veterinary Medicines
  • Maintainence of foot trimming tools
  • To be able to identify the need for trimming
  • Assess condition and identify problems with feet of sheep and be able to apply the most appropiate treatment
  • Trim a sheep's overgrown hooves to the correct shape and size
