DESIGNED FOR

first line managers of units or departments, or those likely to become first line managers. Participants' role is likely to include responsibility for generating plans and motivating a team of supervisors or workers to achieve targets and standards. The programme is suitable for first line managers from any enterprise where successfully managing people and resources is a core skill. Age is not a constraint but some management experience is desirable.

AIMS TO

* Develop the understanding and skills required to plan work and manage people effectively * Improve ability to influence people and handle awkward staff situations * Identify key results and actions which will improve performance at work

ACHIEVED BY

* A two part non-residential course of 4 days spread over approximately 2 months. No module is longer than 2 days to allow easier release from work * Practical projects link the units to encourage application of learning and practice back at work. * Experienced trainers using a participative and practical style to create a stimulating, enjoyable and challenging learning environment * Cross fertilisation of ideas and feedback from peers in similar roles. The same participants and trainer will complete the series as a group
